Description
The neighbors in this corridor have asked for a speed test multiple times without any action being taken by the city. We are requesting a traffic study for Cherokee Road heading towards Huguenot. The limit on this curve is 15 mph, and drivers are not going that slow. Kids playing, cars using their driveways, all put in danger with this speeding. We are asking for a traffic study so that we can understand if a solution is warranted, such as a speed bump.

- Staff · January 29, 2025Two speed tables were installed this year on Cherokee Road. Additionally, the Department is working on design plans for more safety improvements between Huguenot Road and Forest Hill Avenue. The Department is working diligently to calm traffic citywide, prioritizing the high injury network where the most severe crashes occur followed by neighborhoods that haven’t had speed tables installed yet. If the Department were to put one more speed table on Cherokee Road, that would mean one less speed table/raised crosswalk in front of a school. If people continue to speed on Cherokee Road, please contact RPD’s non-emergency number, 804-646-5100, providing them specific times of day and days of the week that driver behavior is the worst, they’ll arrange for an officer to come out.
