Description

I have submitted a ticket before regarding speeding vehicles coming up from around the top of the hill despite speed limit signs and increased fines but drivers continue to speed from over the hill. When I pull out of my drive way along with all my neighbors at the bottom of the hill, I have nearly gotten into 2 accidents over the past 2 months alone. Please either install a speed bump or a light warning of hidden driveway. thank you

Speed tables are now mostly done via the city’s pavement program. I viewed the paving and speed table maps and did not see any speed tables planned around 8939 Cherokee Rd. I did send an email along with speed data to a lieutenant with the Richmond Police Department. FYI - The City of Richmond has an Interactive Citywide Speed Data link for most city streets. Use this link: https://www.rva.gov/public-works/vision-zero (The data is continuously updated and may be a little different during the year.) Flashing lights are capital improvements, and I did not see any planned in this same area on Cherokee Rd in the FY 2026 Adopted Annual Fiscal Plan. The Manual for Uniformed Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) contains the national standards governing all traffic control devices. All public agencies with roads open to public travel across the nation rely on the MUTCD to bring uniformity to the roadway. “Hidden driveway” signs are not included in the MUTCD.
