Description

I talked to vcu police and tax enforcement about this. We have all legal permits and application. VCU police told us as long as driver in the car can park this corner of Monroe park front of the fire hydrant. First time when we try to park Tax enforcement came and said no one can’t park. I said ok and didn’t park and leave. 2 minutes After Mr. Steward prentis and his friend left other truck park in the spot everyday came and park. As I know law for everyone not for certain people or situations.

Parking regulations near fire hydrants are governed by City Code, which generally prohibits parking within 15 feet of a hydrant to ensure emergency access. While there may be limited situations where a vehicle is temporarily stopped with a driver present, enforcement of these conditions is at the discretion of the responding officer or enforcement agency. Based on your description, it appears there may have been conflicting guidance provided between VCU Police and City parking enforcement. Additionally, your concern regarding inconsistent enforcement at this location is noted. Enforcement of parking regulations in this area is typically handled by City Tax Enforcement, and we will share this concern with the appropriate division for review to ensure consistency in application. If you continue to observe recurring issues or have additional concerns, you may also contact RVA311 or Parking Enforcement directly for follow-up.
