Description
The sidewalk at the SW corner of Semmes & Cowardin has been in a destroyed state for months now due to nearby construction. There is no signage or alternate walkway provided at all, no matter which direction you come from. This is a critical segment of sidewalk for the community with no safe alternative paths. The state of this sidewalk is an ADA violation at minimum, and represents a failure in a city that is supposedly prioritizing pedestrian safety. I could not locate an active permit.

Comments
- Staff · April 1, 2026Thank you again for bringing this matter to our attention and for your continued patience. We have coordinated directly with the responsible contractor, and they have acknowledged the condition of the sidewalk at the southwest corner of Semmes Street and Cowardin Avenue. The contractor is currently meeting with their subcontractor to determine the scope of repairs and finalize pricing and scheduling. At this time, we are awaiting confirmation of the repair plan, the anticipated start date and the expected completion timeline. Once that information is finalized, we will continue to monitor the work to ensure it is completed in accordance with City requirements, including pedestrian safety and accessibility standards. In the meantime, we remain actively engaged and will follow up to ensure appropriate corrective action is taken.
