Description

Requesting a pedestrian review/study at this crosswalk. This road is used as a thru-fare to get to VCU campus. There are have been several near misses with cars here. We need a speed hump to slow traffic down or a lighted up pedestrian safety light.

    The average speed on Franklin St between Birch St and Boyd St ranged from 20mph to 23mph in the 25mph zone so speed tables are not recommended. DMV does not show any reported pedestrian crashes on Franklin St at Ryland St between 1.1.17 and 12.31.25. The intersection of Franklin St and Ryland St has ladder bar crosswalks on each leg. No parking signs are present to restrict parking near the crosswalk. A pedestrian safety light is a capital improvement and not in the adopted FY26 City Budget.
