Description
This is an incredibly busy intersection and Meadow St is used fully to capacity during most times of the day with traffic backing up significantly. Due to sheer volume and drivers freshly off the highway, I have seen 4 car crashes, two cyclists hit by cars and many close pedestrian calls in the last 5 months alone. Traffic leading up to this intersection is made worse by the volume of using sidewalk alley as a cut through. I have also seen cyclists hit at this intersection with meadow.

- Staff · March 25, 2026DPW has reviewed the operations of the traffic signal at Main St and Meadow St including a review of the intersection geometrics, peak hour directional turning movements, history of reported crashes, computer timing optimization considering Main and Meadow is in coordination with many other traffic signals in this part of the city. The signal equipment was found to be working as designed. The intersections levels of service are acceptable. DPW, with the assistance of a traffic consultant, reviews all this data and makes timing and phasing adjustments as needed to achieve the best overall area traffic signal operation. No changes are planned currently at Main St and Meadow St.
