Description
On Old Brook Road, between Claremont and Azalea there are no stop signs and very few safe crosswalks. This stretch includes Pine Camp, Henderson Middle School, John Marshall High School, and the Northside YMCA. Traffic is crazy and dangerous as students who walk/drive have to navigate around parked cars, turning vehicles, and school buses. Several close calls have been reported.

Comments
- Staff · January 30, 2026Cityworks ID: 575542
- Staff · February 9, 2026The average speed on Old Brook Rd between Azalea Ave and North Ave ranged between 17mph and 28mph in the 25mph zone. More speed tables are not currently planned. DPW must perform an engineering study in accordance with the Federal Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) before installing an all-way stop. All all-way stops must meet the warrants in the MUTCD. All-way stops are not planned at any of the intersections along Old Brook Rd between Azalea Ave and North St because they do not meet the MUTCD traffic volume requirements. DMV crash records for the latest eight full years of records (1.1.17-12.31.24) did not show any reported pedestrian crashes on Old Brook Rd between Azalea Ave and North Ave. Several crosswalks on Old Brook Rd have crosswalks now. Field staff will field review for maintenance needs
