Description

This request is from the Richmond Police Department, Third Precinct, 301 S. Meadow St. There have been at least 3 significant vehicle crashes at the intersection of S. Meadow St and Grayland Ave over the past 18 months. One of those crashes involved a brand new police vehicle. The issue appears to be when drivers are on Grayland Ave crossing over S. Meadow St, it is difficult to see on-coming traffic - looking southbound. Stop by Third Precinct, I can explain further, (804) 432-5476.

The DMV shows the following reported crashes at the intersection of Meadow St and Grayland Ave from 1.1.17 to 8.31.25: - 6.26.18 angle - 11.21.19 angle - 12.23.20 angle - 6.25.21 angle - 12.2.22 angle - 7.6.23 angle - 10.7.23 angle The intersection of Meadow St ad Grayland Ave does not meet the warrants for an all-way stop as stated in the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD). Given the recurring “angle” type crashes DPW will plan to install ‘intersection ahead’ warning signs in each direction on S. Meadow St. (I am basing this signing on the latest Google Street view.)
