Description

The crosswalk at 7th and Byrd is hugely unsafe. Cars approach from the top of the hill on Byrd or via exit from the expressway which results in high speeds entering the intersection. Pedestrians have to run to avoid being hit even when the coast is clear when initially entering the crosswalk. Someone will be killed here without changes. Recommend adding rumble strips to expressway offramp and more prominent signage.

A new traffic signal is planned for E. Byrd St and S. 7th St with construction planned to start this year. The signal will have new pedestrian crosswalks and signal indications. In the interim the tree limbs will be trimmed and the existing pedestrian warning sign on the off ramp will be replaced with a larger sign.

Inspected the location per Travis Bridewell. The pedestrian crossing signs are visible and not blocked by branches.
