Description
People often are walking across Forest Hill Avenue in the middle of the block, likely to access new businesses that have opened up along the block. I worry that sooner or later someone may get hit by a car while crossing the street, and suggest the city look into at least painting a crosswalk (or even adding blinking pedestrian lights like those further east on Forest Hill Ave) so people can cross in a predictable and visible location.

- Staff · December 29, 2025A marked crosswalk alone is insufficient on Forest Hill Ave between Westover Hills Blvd and Jahnke Rd. Other treatments should be considered, such as a pedestrian signal (where warranted by the Federal Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD)) to improve crossing safety for pedestrians. Pedestrian signals and pedestrian flashers are capital expenses and are not in the adopted FY26 City Budget. Therefore, the city has no plans to mark a crosswalk on Forest Hill Ave between Westover Hills Blvd and Jahnke Rd. Pedestrian crosswalks and signals are provided on Forest Hill Ave at Westover Hills Blvd and at Jahnke Rd.
