Description

Bainbridge St has speed humps on the Carter Jones Park side of Bainbridge St but nothing on the side closer to Cowardin Ave, but once you cross Cowardin Ave going into the Manchester area the speed humps begin again. The neighborhood is in agreement that the vehicle traffic needs to be slowed down by more speed humps between W Clopton St and Cowardin Ave or a stop sign on Bainbridge St at the intersection with W 22nd St & W Pilkington St for the safety of pedestrians and children playing.

The Department of Public Works must perform an engineering study in accordance with the Federal Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) before proposing an all-way stop. The MUTCD is a federal publication that applies to all streets open to public travel. Warrants in the MUTCD must be met. The intersection of Bainbridge St and W. 22nd St / Pilkington St does not meet the traffic volume requirements set forth in the MUTCD for an all-way stop. This RVA 311 request has been re-assigned to the DPW engineer who manages the city-wide traffic calming program to address your request for more speed tables on Bainbridge St.
