Description

This request was previously closed with inaccurate information quoted from Google Street view. There are no school markings on Clay Street on this side of the building. There's only one 25 speed limit and no school indicators. Please see attached pictures taken this morning. We really need school zone identifiers and school zone speed limit signs. It's really unsafe for kids to be crossing the street.

The general practice is to place SCHOOL pavement markings a block in advance of the school. This gives motorists a chance to become aware of an upcoming school site and note to watch out for children and their speed. Both Clay St and Marshall St have SCHOOL pavement markings this way in each direction according to Google Street view and 2025 aerial photos. In any event, in case of Clay St and of Marshall St were paved since the 2025 aerial photo was taken I asked the DPW Pavement Marking Division to field verify and if the SCHOOL marking are not present then they will plan to install in each direction of Clay St and of Marshall St approaching Chimborazo. Crosswalks are also installed at intersections adjacent to the school with three on Clay St and three on Marshall St. (I asked the DPW Pavement Marking Division to verify as well and install if missing.) Several school pedestrian crossing signs are also present on both Clay St and on Marshall St. Speed limit signs are also installed in the general area on Clay Sr and on Marshall St. Also, in the case of Chimborazo the city installed traffic circles on each corner of the school. This serves as a traffic calming measure.
