Description

Following up on DPW000220191, DPW000219327, and DPW000219099. The traffic speed you listed is in line with other streets that have received speed tables. It also lists only 1 data point while other neighborhoods have 7. Can our neighborhood pay to put in speed tables? If not, please explain why, and why other streets have received them with similar data. This is a danger to pedestrians and children playing in the neighborhood.

The speed data link below shows speed data for these categories on most city streets: - Posted - 50th percentile - 85th percentile - 95th percentile The highest speed sample in any of the categories measured 23mph and still less than the posted speed. https://experience.arcgis.com/experience/0993f449422844a48d054041a5e19d33 The primary purpose of a speed table is to reduce vehicle speeds. The Traffic Engineering Division manages the city traffic calming program. The Fire Marshall has the final approval of all traffic calming measures. The average speeds given in an earlier RVA311 request were on Harlan Circle, Oak Lane, and Roseland Rd. The speed samples were all lower than the posted 25mph speed and speed tables are not currently planned. You mention other streets have speed tables with similar speed measurements. Please submit another RVA311 and share the street names and Traffic Engineering will review the records. You also asked if your neighborhood can pay to put in speed tables. I suggest you ask your City Council Representative.
