Description
I live near here and frequent this intersecrion to walk my kids to the playground and school. This is a wide and fast intersection that is not pedestrian friendly - quite dangerous to cross most times of the day. I would love some additional traffic calming, lights, pacent markings, etc. here. Also there are a lot more people living at this interaection now with the new multifamily units finished nearby, which provides additional justification for this request. Thanks for your consiseration.

- Staff · October 6, 2025Traffic calming is not currently planned in this section of Libbie Ave due to the functional classification of Urban Minor Arterial caring 11,000 vehicles a day and a strategic route for emergency vehicles. DPW passed your RVA311 request to a City Police Lieutenant for enforcement furnishing him with recent speed study data. I asked the manager of the city’s “speed feedback” sign program to consider Libbie Ave as a location for these electronic signs. Also, a crosswalk is under consideration on Libbie Ave at Guthrie Ave.
