CONSTRUCTION DUMPSTER (NO PERMIT VISIBLE) HAS BEEN MOVED TODAY (FOR THE THIRD TIME) TO BLOCK THE ALLEY-WAY OFF 22ND STREET; THIS DUMPSTER BLOCKS/OBSTRUCTS THE ENTRANCE/EXIT/FIRE EXIT FOR 2200 E CARY STREET (APARTMENT BUILDING). IT ALSO BLOCKS/OBSTRUCTS THE HANDICAPP RAMP FOR THE REAR EXIT OF 2222 E CARY STREET (APARTMENT BUILDING). THERE IS A HANDICAPP GENTLEMAN THAT LIVES IN 2222 E CARY STREET WHO USES A MOBILITY SCOOTER, AND HE CANNOT GET THROUGH. THE FIRE MARSHALL WAS PREVIOUSLY NOTIFIED

The Department of Public Works Right of Way Division investigated your report regarding the dumpster blocking the alley near 18 S. 22nd Street. Our inspection confirmed that the alley is part of the public right of way. The contractor responsible has been directed to relocate the dumpster to their permitted on-street location in accordance with their approved Work in Street Permit (WISP). They were also instructed to maintain: Clear access at the alley entrance, Unobstructed fire egress for 2200 E. Cary Street, and An open ADA-accessible route at the rear exit of 2222 E. Cary Street. Follow-up verification is being conducted to ensure compliance and documentation of clear access.
