There was another accident today at the intersection of P Street and 33rd. There are so many near misses and too many accidents at the intersection. There are no stop signs down our section of P Street, and folks drive way too fast down our street.

The Department of Public Works must perform an engineering study in accordance with the Federal Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) before installing an all-way stop. This is a federal publication that applies to all streets open to public travel. P St as it intersects with N. 30th St, N. 31st, N. 32nd and N. 33rd St were reviewed. None of the intersections meet the MUTCD traffic volume requirements for all-way stops. The speed on P St between Chimborazo Blvd and N. 29th St ranged between 16mph and 23mph in the 25mph zone. (The average speed measured 20mph.) Speed tables are not currently planned.
