Description

The intersection of Hioaks Rd and Carnation St is configured in such a way that traffic flows continuously from Carnation onto Hioaks (in both directions) without stopping, with the only traffic control being a stop sign coming out of The Barrington at Hioaks and a yield sign on northbound Carnation meant for traffic turning left. There have been several near-misses at this intersection involving both vehicles and bicycles, and it should become an all-way stop with stop signs in all directions.

DPW must perform engineering studies in accordance with the Federal Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) before installing an all-way stop. The intersection of Hioaks Rd and Carnation St does not meet the MUTCD traffic requirements for an all-way stop.
