Description
I’m requesting speed bumps or a stop sign on O Street due to safety concerns. The street, near a daycare and elementary school, is heavily used by pedestrians, including families walking kids. Cars frequently exceed the speed limit, endangering residents. The narrow street makes it hazardous to enter/exit vehicles. I’ve witnessed a car door being hit, vehicles sideswiped, and side mirrors damaged by speeding cars. Speed bumps are preferred, but a stop sign would help.

- Staff · June 30, 2025DPW must perform engineering studies in accordance with the Federal Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) before installing an all-way stop. The intersection of O St and N. 27th St does not meet the MUTCD traffic requirements for an all-way stop. The average speed on N. 27th St approaching O St is 10mph southbound and 12mph northbound. The average speed on O St approaching N. 27th St was 19mph eastbound and 21mph westbound. The speed samples are in general compliance with the 25-mph speed for residential streets. Speed tables are not planned.
