Description
Fendall Avenue narrows on the 2900 Block and is not wide enough for two cars to pass. People also speed up to try and make the light at Fendall and Brookland Park Blvd. My car has been sideswiped multiple times as have my neighbors’ cars. We have all lost our car side mirrors. Some cars have been hit so hard while parked that they have been totaled. A speed bump is needed approaching this block to slow down traffic as the block narrows and coming to the stoplight, and this now busy intersection.

- Staff · June 17, 2025The average speed in the same section was 20mph. The 85th percentile speed* sample on Fendall Ave between Hooper St and Brookland Park Blvd measured 23mph. The samples are in general compliance with the 25-mph posted speed. (*The 85th percentile speed is the speed at or below which 85 percent of the drivers will operate with open roads and favorable conditions. The assumption underlying the 85th percentile speed is that most drivers will operate their vehicle at speeds they perceive to be safe.) Fendall Ave has a speed table between Lancaster Rd and Norwood Ave and curb extensions at Hooper St and at Essex St. No additional traffic calming measures are currently planned.
