Description
Southampton Recreation Center and Southampton Elementary are frequented on a daily basis throughout the year in a variety of ways, regardless of season, by many within the neighborhood. Chellowe Road is one main crossing point over Cherokee, and at this intersection, street lighting, vegetation and road width on the south side of Chellowe diminishes visibility of pedestrians. A pedestrian crosswalk and signage would be a valuable addition to the speed calming table located just up the hill.

- Staff · December 16, 2025Current intersection layout is not suitable for a crosswalk. Pedestrians have enough of a gap to cross. Cherokee Rd has seen many improvements over the past couple of years including new signage and speed tables. A crosswalk will not be implemented at this time.
