Description
A traffic calming study is needed at N 22nd St and Fairmount Avenue in Church Hill. I’ve lived at this intersection for 5 years, and I’ve seen several accidents and even more near misses. Cars drive fast on Fairmount, and it’s extremely difficult to turn onto Fairmount or cross Fairmount from 22nd. The GRTC bus also travels across 22nd St, and I ride my bike with my kids daily here. Just saw a severe accident tonight and I’d really like to see something done about it.

- Staff · May 15, 2025The DMV crash history for the latest three-year period (1.1.22 -12.31.24) shows four reported crashes at the intersection of Fairmount Ave and N. 22nd St. Parking is restricted on all four corners on Fairmount Ave at N. 22nd St. to enhance intersection sight distance. An overhead hazard identification beacon is also present to warn motorists of the intersection. The Fire Marshall does not support traffic calming measures such as a speed table on Fairmont Ave since it is classified as an Urban Minor Arterial and a strategic route for emergency vehicles.
