Description

Several cars have driven into the ditches on this section of Jahnke. More specifically, two drivers have driven off the road and into ditches right near my house within a 3-week timeframe. During the first incident, the person drove into our ditch and then into one of our cars in our driveway. I am seriously worried a pedestrian will be hit next time or more serious property damage will occurr. Something needs to be done to help make this specific area and the rest of Jahnke safer.

The last eight years of DMV crash data (1.1.17– 12.31.24) revealed one reported crash on Jahnke Rd between Forest View School Dr and Irby Dr (about 0.13mile). This crash type was a “fixed object off road” type crash. Jahnke Rd between Blakemore Rd and Leicester Rd (about 0.83mile) had three “fixed object off road” type crashes in this same time period. Road construction plans are complete for a planned Jahnke Rd construction project between Blakemore Rd and Forest Hill Ave. The project scope is to improve safety, accessibility, drainage, provide multi modal transportation, the installation of curb and gutter on both sides of Jahnke Road, sidewalk and bike lane. This project is going to bid this month.
