Description
There is inadequate line of sight when approaching the two-way stop on the minor-road. When cars are parked along 24th, a vehicle at the stop sign cannot see traffic. There needs to be an engineering study so that this intersection can be made safer. When inspecting the intersection, please inspect during high volumes of traffic and parking - 5/6pm work days & most times on the weekends. During off-peak hours this is not an issue. This meets the warrant of MUTCD as described in Section 2B.1

- Staff · April 17, 2025DPW must perform engineering studies in accordance with the Federal Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) before installing an all-way stop. All all-way stops must meet the warrants in the MUTCD. The intersection of M St and 24th St does not meet the traffic requirements for an all-way stop. An all-way stop is also not recommended using the MUTCD Sight Distance Option at this time. The last nine years of DMV crash data (1.1.16– 12.31.24) did not reveal any reported crashes at the intersection of M St and 24th St. DPW will plan to install No Parking signs on each corner to enhance intersection sight distance.
