Description

The new intersection design at Hermitage and Laburnum is great! However, we have increased high-speed traffic using Wilmington Avenue (1700-1900 blocks) as a cut through, which is becoming very dangerous for kids and other residents. Please add speed tables to these blocks of Wilmington Avenue.

Wilmington Ave traffic stops at each intersection between Rosedale Ave and Hermitage Rd. (This means traffic also stops at Lanvale Ave.) The average speeds between the stop signs measured less than 24mph in a residential zone of 25mph. The annual average hourly traffic on Wilmington Ave is around 40 vehicles an hour. The general practice for DPW is to manage traffic in place along public streets in lieu of placing restrictions such as No Left Turn signs or restricting thru traffic. Therefore, speed tables and vehicle restrictions are not currently planned. The traffic and speed data were measured in March 2025. DPW will monitor the improvements at Hermitage Rd and Laburnum Ave intersection and adjust as needed.
