Description

The intersection at Maplewood Ave & S Shields Ave lacks ADA curb ramps on 3 of 4 corners. Sidewalks abruptly end at raised curbs, creating barriers and unsafe conditions for pedestrians, especially those with disabilities, wheelchairs, strollers, wagons, or limited mobility. This forces people into hazardous situations when crossing streets. Installation of ADA ramps is urgently needed for safety, accessibility, and compliance.

    This location was inspected on 7-3-2025. Handicap ramps will be added or replaced at this intersection as part of a planned sidewalk Capital Improvement Project. The project will be reviewed for scheduling based on available funding and pedestrian risk criteria.
