Description
Traffic along commonwealth moves too quickly. As a bike roite for many children heading to mary munford, speed bumps would help skow the pace.

- Staff · March 19, 2025The 85th percentile speed* is one of the best indicators of a reasonable and safe speed. The 85th percentile speed samples on Commonwealth Ave between Cary St and Grove Ave measured 22 mph. (The average speed for the same street section measured 19 mph.) The speed samples are in general compliance with the 25-mph speed for residential streets and speed tables are not planned. Two traffic circles are already on this section of Commonwealth Drive. (*The 85th percentile speed is the speed at or below which 85 percent of the drivers will operate with open roads and favorable conditions. The assumption underlying the 85th percentile speed is that most drivers will operate their vehicle at speeds they perceive to be safe.)
