Description
People speed so much on Patterson Ave. I think extra speed control would prevent accidents, similar to the accident of the prominent public figure on a bike last week.

- Staff · March 19, 2025The 85th percentile speed* is one of the best indicators of a reasonable and safe speed. The 85th percentile speed samples on Patterson Ave near Shenandoah St measured 38 mph. The speed samples are in general compliance with the 35-mph speed and speed tables are not planned on Patterson Ave. Also, Patterson St is classified as an urban principal arterial, carries about 20,000 vehicles a day and is a strategic route for emergency vehicles. (*The 85th percentile speed is the speed at or below which 85 percent of the drivers will operate with open roads and favorable conditions. The assumption underlying the 85th percentile speed is that most drivers will operate their vehicle at speeds they perceive to be safe.)
