Description

I am unable to cross Brookland Park Blvd safely as a pedestrian, especially during high volume drive times. The city has declined to do a traffic calming study but drivers constantly drive above posted speed limit, never yield to pedestrians in crosswalks, and recklessly drive around drivers traveling at speed limit. I am requesting a HAWK beacon to control traffic and allow for pedestrian crossing. The crosswalks also need to be repainted in ladder style.

Brookland Park Blvd and has crosswalks on each intersection leg at the intersection with Montrose Ave. The latest DMV crash database does not show any reported pedestrian crashes at Montrose Ave for the latest nine-year study. A HAWK is a capital improvement and not funded in the FY2025 City Budget. I sent a note to the Pavement Engineer about the conditions of the crosswalks. I also sent a note to a Richmond Police Department Lieutenant about speeding on Brookland Park Blvd.
