Description
A new stop sign is urgently needed on Prairie Rd. (red circle on the attached picture) at the intersection of Prairie Rd & Chellowe Rd. Currently, with no stop sign on Prairie, drivers take a left onto Chellowe at high speeds. This intersection is the entrance to Southampton Recreation Association (yellow arrow pointing right on the picture).

- Staff · April 24, 2025A new stop sign on Prairie Rd would then convert the intersection with Chellowe Rd to an all-way stop. DPW must perform engineering studies in accordance with the Federal Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) before installing an all-way stop. The intersection of Prairie Rd and Chellowe Rd does not meet the MUTCD traffic requirements for an all-way stop. DPW will install a sharp curve warning sign on Prairie Rd approaching Chellowe Rd with an advisory speed of 10mph.
