Ellwood Ave is posted at 25mph and signed with enhanced speed $200 fine signs via a City Council resolution. Crosswalks exist on all legs of Ellwood Ave and Crenshaw Ave. Curb extensions also exist, so pedestrians have a shorter walk to cross Ellwood Ave. DMV crash records do not show any reported pedestrian crashes for the last five years. I understand that “yield to pedestrian” signs or “stop for pedestrian” signs that were placed in the middle of the street at strategic intersections are no longer being installed at this time due to the many sign knockdowns. Pedestrian flashers are a capital improvement and not in the adopted budget. No further actions are planned at this time.
