Description

There are many young children on this road. There was recently an accident involving speed. Many cars cut through this area from chippenham parkway at an alarming speed. This is a danger for the children living in the community as well as those walking in the neighborhood.

DPW must use the Federal Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) for all highway signs. This is a national manual used by all states and localities. “Slow down” signs are not in the MUTCD therefore are not planned. The 85th percentile speed, the speed that 85 percent of drivers travel at or below, is one of the best indicators of a reasonable and safe speed. The 85th percentile speed on Weyburn Rd between Chippenham Pkwy and Sherbrook Rd measured 25mph. This sample complies with the posted 25 mph speed. Speed tables are not planned.
