Description

The section of Gilmer Street between West Leigh and Catherine streets is legally inaccessible by car. While traveling east on Leigh, there is a no right turn sign preventing turning onto Gilmer. Similarly when traveling west, there is a no right turn preventing turning onto Gilmer. These signs appear to be present to prevent traffic from cutting through the Carver community, but it difficult for those living in the Carver neighborhood to access their homes.

Dear Citizen, Thank you for your inquiry regarding the signage at Gilmer Street between West Leigh and Catherine Streets. The “No Right Turn” and “No Left Turn” signs are in place because this section of Gilmer Street is designated as a one-way street, based on the City’s official traffic layout. These measures are intended to support safe and consistent traffic patterns in the area. At this time, no further action is needed. Residents can use neighboring streets, including Belvidere Street, to navigate the area. I am closing this service request now. Please don’t hesitate to reach out with any further questions or concerns.
