Description
Speed is an issue on this street. Cars are constantly speeding due to having no stop sign for two full blocks. We have a majority of elderly residents on this block that have limited mobility. We also have an autistic resident who is prone to walking out into the street. We have two small children on our block as well. We have requested this before and a survey was conducted but we feel it needs to be reassessed.

Comments
- Staff · January 8, 2025Cityworks ID: 545554
- Staff · January 10, 2025The 85th percentile speed, the speed that 85 percent of drivers travel at or below, is one of the best indicators of a reasonable and safe speed. The 85th percentile speed sample on Bancroft Ave measured 18-mph between Richmond Henrico Turnpike and Meadowbridge Rd. The speed sample is in general compliance with the 25-mph speed for residential streets and speed tables are not planned. The Department of Public Works (DPW) must perform an engineering study in accordance with the Federal Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) before installing an all-way stop. All all-way stops must meet the warrants in the MUTCD. The intersection of Bancroft Ave and Wellington St does not currently meet the traffic volume requirements for an all-way stop. The intersection of Bancroft Ave and Napoleon St also does not currently meet the traffic volume requirements for an all-way stop.
