Description
Back-in/pull-out parking signs & paint along N.23rd St between Jefferson Ave & Venable St. N.23rd St is wide enough to carry this parking practice on at least one side, if not both. This model will increase parking spots, reduce the width of N.23rd St for a safer passage, naturally deceease vehicle speeds through a visually narrower road, & allow for pedestrians to cross a shorter distance. The financial impact is much less too than installing more permanent speed controls like bumps or circles.

- Staff · December 26, 202423rd St between Jefferson Ave and Burton St is two-way with curb parking in each travel direction. To keep 23rd St a two-way street and convert the curb parking to back-in angle parking in each direction would require a consistent street width of around 56’. 23rd St is too narrow to allow this change. Besides this change would require a budget for plan development, street paving and pavement marking which is not in the adopted FY2025 City Budget for 23rd St.
