The 85th percentile speed, the speed that 85 percent of drivers travel at or below, is one of the best indicators of a reasonable and safe speed. The 85th percentile speed sample on Riverside Dr between Southcliff Rd and W. 42nd St measured 23mph. This sample is in general compliance with the 25-mph speed limit for Riverside Dr. The last four full years of reported crashes from DMV (1.1.20 – 12.31.23) on Riverside Dr in this same section did not show any reported crashes. Riverside Dr is posted at 25mph and has a variety of warning signs such as curve, advisory speeds and chevrons along the corridor. Speed tables are nor planned at this time. The DPW Bridge Division staff will investigate the damaged guardrail and plan to repair as needed.

Thank you for notifying us about the damaged guardrail. The Bridge Maintenance Division has installed reflective safety barrels at the site to alert drivers and ensure traffic safety while we plan and implement the necessary repairs.
