Description
ALL OF SCOTTS ADDITION. We have lived in this area for 4 years and it is now legitimately unsafe for drivers AND PEDESTRIANS. We consistently have accidents and need accidents right outside our doors. Scott’s addition is now as heavily traveled as the fan and drivers DO NOT OBEY stop signs and consistently create dangerous traffic patterns. Scott’s addition will remain an unsafe area until all way stop signs or traffic lights are installed on Moore, Leigh, Clay

- Staff · November 26, 2024The City has invested quite a bit to improve conditions for people walking, rolling, and biking in Scott's Addition, one of our fastest growing neighborhoods. The most immediate improvement was the reduction in vehicle speeds through the neighborhood. Stop sign enforcement is an RPD issue, and they can be reached at their non-emergency number, 804-646-5100. The Department will continue to monitor multimodal safety in Scott's Addition. Regarding the major infrastructure upgrades... CBS6 reported (https://www.wtvr.com/news/local-news/scotts-addition-improvements-nov-27-2023): ...$1.2 million street improvement plan for the entire Richmond neighborhood, set to be completed by the spring of 2024. The plan will include speed tables, bike lanes, and new and improved sidewalks. "This is something that the city and the neighborhood has been asking for, for years," said City Council Member Katherin Jordan, who represents the 2nd District, which includes Scott's Addition. "At the end of the day, we know that stronger neighborhoods lean on stronger infrastructure throughout the city," said Mayor Levar Stoney, surveying the newly paved Bellville Street near Brambly Park Monday. ABC8 reported (https://www.wric.com/news/local-news/richmond/scotts-addition-streets-get-a-makeover-safer-roads-and-bike-lanes-on-the-way/): Exciting news for residents of Scott’s Addition! The first phase of the neighborhood’s million-dollar road improvement plan is nearing completion, making the area safer and more pedestrian-friendly.
