Description
Many vehicle collisions occur at this intersection. Traffic traveling on 22nd St. is not required to stop, but vehicles traveling on T St. do have stop signs. They are insufficient in preventing accidents. Please consider a flashing light, four way stop, or other traffic calming measure. Speed bump further up 22nd St. (in front of 1418 N. 22nd) is not a sufficient solution to this problem at the intersection.

- Staff · November 13, 2024DPW must perform engineering studies in accordance with the Federal Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) before installing an all-way stop. The intersection of T St and N. 22nd St does not meet the MUTCD traffic requirements for an all-way stop. The 85th percentile speed, the speed that 85 percent of drivers travel at or below, is one of the best indicators of a reasonable and safe speed. The 85th percentile speed samples on each approach to this intersection was less than 22mph. Speed tables are not planned. Flashing lights at this intersection is a capital improvement and not in the adopted FY25 Capital Improvement Plan. 22nd St at T St has stop signs and stop bars on each approach. No Parking signs are installed on T St in three corners and a fire hydrant is on the other corner where its illegal to park. These parking restrictions enhance intersection sight distance. No additional measures are planned.
