- Staff · October 28, 2024Gaps in traffic for pedestrians to safely cross is a key issue for pedestrians crossing multiple lanes on Cowardin Ave at Perry St. Marked crosswalks alone are insufficient since pedestrian crash risk may be increased by only providing a marked crosswalk. We must consider using other treatments, such as traffic signals with pedestrian signals where warranted to improve crossing safety for pedestrians. A traffic signal is a capital expense and not planned in the adopted FY25 Capital Improvement Plan. Therefore, the city has no plans to mark a crosswalk at this time on Cowardin Ave at Perry St.
