Description
I received the denial message in response to my last traffic calming request, based on traffic at 31st and Q where there is a stop sign and a tricky 4-way intersection. I request that you please test traffic speeds at 31st and R where there is no stop sign. I can take videos of cars speeding and send to you or post on social media if that would be helpful. I very much appreciate your help making our block safer for our children. --Anna Wittel, 631-796-4303

- Staff · October 8, 2024The 85th percentile speed, the speed that 85 percent of drivers travel at or below, is one of the best indicators of a reasonable and safe speed. The sampled speed along R St between 26th St and 31st St shows an 85th percentile speed of 15mph. R St stops sat 26th, 28th, 29th, 30th and 31st. Speed tables are not planned on R St. The sampled speed along 31st St between U St and Q St shows an 85th percentile speed of 20mph. 31st St stops sat U, T and Q St. A circle is at S St. Speed tables are not planned on 31st St.
