Description

Cars routinely use the four lane straightaway in front of WHES as a speedway. As it is adjacent to a school, it should be a school zone with increased fines (cf Cary Street behind Mary Mumford ES), I believe the state made it possible to have school zone speed limits below 25. Also, having an increased speed limit just west of Jankhe encourages speeding, instead of discouraging it. Keeping the limit at 25 (or 30, with a school zone of 25) could decrease speeds. Thank you.

DPW will make some adjustments in the existing 25mph zone on Forest Hill Ave west of Jahnke Rd. Jahnke Rd in front of WHES has a 25mph speed zone during the flashing lights before and during some school activities and during student drop-offs and pick-ups. Jahnke Rd also has a planned road project between Forest Hill Ave and the RR crossing to include at a minimum two raised crosswalks, sidewalk projects and a bike lane. Construction should start in 2025.
