Description
The traffic signal light at the intersection of Grove Ave & Belmont Ave causes traffic on BOTH Grove & Belmont to accelerate to "make the light". The intersection becomes particularly dangerous near the beginning and ending of each school day at St. Benedicts School located at that corner. The biggest problem is the drag-raceway eastbound on Grove from the traffic table near Auburn to the light at Belmont. A new table and elevated crosswalk at Cleveland would help matter significantly. - Staff · October 7, 2024The focused approach on speed management in the City’s Neighborhood Traffic Management Program first considers the distance of a free flow street of at least 1200’ in length in a tangent section without traffic signals, existing traffic calming measures or stopped conditions on the major street. Speed tables are not planned on Grove Ave between Auburn Ave and Belmont Ave given the street length of approximately 800‘ between the raised crosswalk at Auburn and the traffic signal at Belmont.
