Description
There are GRTC bus stops on either side of Chamberlayne at Hammond with a huge amount of pedestrians crossing at this location, but there is no crosswalk, sign, or any other kind of indication to drivers that there are people in the road here. Traffic is usually heavy and very fast at this intersection as well. 2 years ago a man was hit and killed at this intersection when trying to cross the street. This section of Chamberlayne needs to be assessed.

Comments
- Staff · September 24, 2024Cityworks ID: 539054
- Staff · October 23, 2024Crosswalks alone are not adequate on this portion of Chamberlayne Ave. This is part of the City's High Injury Network, and the Department is working on a combination of engineering, enforcement, and education responses to speed with partners including GRTC and Richmond Police Department. The City has received grant funding for systemic improvements and continues to apply for more regional and federal funding for safety projects.
