- Staff · September 27, 2024The 85th percentile speed, the speed that 85 percent of drivers travel at or below, is one of the best indicators of a reasonable and safe speed. The 85th percentile speed samples on Hanover Ave and on Commonwealth Ave in the immediate area measured 14mph and 26mph respectively. The speed samples are in general compliance with the 25-mph speed for residential streets and speed tables are not planned. DPW must perform engineering studies in accordance with the Federal Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) before installing an all-way stop. The intersection of Commonwealth Ave and Hanover Ave does not meet the MUTCD traffic requirements for an all-way stop.
