Description
The crashes on our block result in significant damage to vehicles and often result in injuries serious enough for an ambulance. Friday there was a crash that resulted in a car crashing through a cast iron fence into the yard. That fence has survived more than 150 years but not the speedway that is Main St. There is a children’s shelter on this block. Pedestrians take their life in their hands trying to cross Main, as do vehicles, trying to cross at Foushee. We need a traffic hump.

- Staff · September 24, 2024Speed tables on Main St between 14th St and Jefferson St (away from the VCU West Campus area) are not supported by the Fire Marshall given these streets are functionally classified as Urban Minor Arterials and strategic routes for emergency vehicles. Safe pedestrian Main St crossings can be made at the traffic signals along Main St which have crosswalks and pedestrian signals.
