Description
Can we get some of the city’s “Slow Down” signs in the median of Monument Avenue from the 3000 to 3200 blocks? Drivers are speeding through these particular blocks. I understand that speed bumps aren’t allowed on Monument, and police presence helps every now and then, but would like some of these “Slow Down” signs we’ve seen in other areas of the city. It would help ensure the safety of the numerous pedestrians and joggers on Monument Avenue.

- Staff · September 20, 2024DPW must use the Federal Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MUTCD) for all highway signs. This is a national manual used by all states and localities. “Slow down” signs are not in the MUTCD therefore are not planned. The signs you may have seen may have come from the DMV (804.497.7100).
