Description

This yield sign and road design are useless and dangerous. Drivers do not slow down here at all and bc they have no reason to, it endangers the community. Drivers continue their highway speeds right down Hermitage, or Wentbridge bc of the wide turn radius here. The bottom of this ramp needs a stop sign, and a speed table or raised crosswalk. I included a screen cap of a video of a terrifying encounter with a driver who ran the yield.

The Yield condition on the I-95 NB off-ramp is controlled by VDOT. It is their decision on changing the Yield sign to a Stop sign therefore DPW sent your Problem Description to the District Traffic Engineer. If they decide to keep the Yield sign, then DPW recommended they install a Yield Ahead sign on the off-ramp and Yield pavement markings at the Yield sign. DPW will plan to install speed limit signs on Hermitage Rd between Robin Hood Rd and Brookland Parkway. DPW also alerted a Sergeant with the RPD about speeding on Hermitage Rd. The latest eight full years of crash data from DMV (1.1.16-12.31.23) shows two reported crashes on Hermitage Road between the I-95 NB off-ramp and Wentbridge Rd. Speed tables or raised crosswalks are not planned.
