Description
This is follow-up to request DPW000181422. The purpose of that request was to AVOID crashes and consequent vehicle damage, occupant injury, and injury/death of deer. We shouldn't wait for preventable crashes to occur to justify the use of signs. Also, it's unlikely that DMV's record of deer-related accidents is representative of the number of incidents and "close calls" that actually occur. The herd of deer in my area is growing and observable daily. Please reconsider request DPW000181422.

- Staff · September 27, 2024An eight-year review of DMV crash records did not reveal any reported deer crashes in the Huguenot Neighborhood therefore Deer crossing signs are not planned. DMV had the closest reported crash at about 4,000’ away from 10111 Oldham Rd. DPW staff called the VA Dept of Wildlife Resources (VDWR) three times requesting incident reports of deer related crashes that may not have been in the DMV crash database. VDWR never responded.
