Description
Speed tables requested for Idlewood between the I-195 exit and Belvidere. I-195 Belvidere exit ramp is on Idlewood near Harrison St. Drivers constantly speed through the residential neighborhoods of Randolph and Oregon Hill to get to Belvidere. Timing of the lights provides a green wave to drivers who speed, which is taken full advantage of.

- Staff · September 9, 2024The focused approach to speed management first considers the distance of a free flow street of at least 1200’ in length without traffic signals, roundabouts, existing traffic calming measures or stopped conditions on the major street. Idlewood Ave has a roundabout at the Downtown Expressway. Traffic signals exist at S. Cherry St, S. Laurel St and at S. Belvidere St. (The approximate distances between these controls from west to east are: 700’- 350’ - 650’.) Speed tables are not planned. Idlewood Ave is also functionally classified as an Urban Collector and a strategic route for emergency vehicles.
