Description
There are three lanes on westbound Brookland Pkwy at Hermitage. The left lane clearly indicates left turn only; the right lane clearly indicates right turn only. But there is nothing requiring the center lane to proceed only straight onto Westwood. On several occasions, usually because of backed up left turn traffic, people will try to turn left from the center lane. This creates a great hazard with people heading for the I-95/64 onramp on Arthur Ashe a block away.

- Staff · September 4, 2024A three-year search of the DMV crash data base (between 1.1.22 and up to date 2024) shows only two reported crashes at the intersection of Brookland Pkwy & Hermitage Road & Westwood Ave. Both crashes were on Westwood Ave leg. Additional pavement marking arrows on Brookland Pkwy are not planned at this time. Area planning documents have identified a roundabout for the intersection of Brookland Pkwy & Hermitage Road & Westwood Ave.
