Description

Garland Ave is heavily travelled and conjested with people parking to visit the commercial establishments on Brookland Park Blvd. Its the last street before the stop light at North Ave, so people use it as a place to a) illegally turn around, b) park, c) a pass through to circle back. People speed down this road very often every day. Its highly traveled and dangerous - with the anount of pedestrians, cyclists, and motorists. Police patrol would be nice, but so would speed bumps.

The focused approach on speed management in the City’s Neighborhood Traffic Management Program first considers the distance of a free flow street of at least 1200’ in length in a tangent section without traffic signals, existing traffic calming measures or stopped conditions on the major street. Garland Ave between Brookland Park Blvd and Ladies Mile Rd stops at Crawford (about 500‘), Gladstone (about 500‘), Meredith (about 625‘) and at Ladies Mile (about 500‘). Given these measurements speed tables are not planned on Edgewood.
